Eden Project, Cornwall
The Eden Project, a £57m showcase for global biodiversity, is one of the most innovative and high-profile Millennium Projects, and has quickly become one of the most popular visitor attractions in the United Kingdom.
Its biomes, which house plant species from around the world, are probably the largest plant enclosures in the world.
The Education Centre, known as The Core, is the latest addition to the site and provides an education facility designed to help communicate Eden's central message about the relationship of people and plants. The roof structure, with its spiky triangular-shaped skylights, recalls the opposing spirals found in many plants such as the seeds in a sunflower's head, pine cones and pineapples.
Colt provided Coltlite natural louvred ventilators around the inner atrium at the first floor level of the Core Building. These ventilators help to maintain acceptable temperature levels within the building.
