Our expert team are here to support you from the initial design and specification right through to installation. We work with you to understand your project requirements and find the right louvre solution for you. Our extensive range of louvre systems includes single, double and triple banked options, each with a range of customisation options including our Colt Acoustic Louvre Modules (CALM), which provide cutting-edge noise reduction. Your louvres can be manufactured in a range of finishes at our UK site and delivered and installed by our expert teams for a seamless project solution.

Our louvre range

Each of our louvres is available in a range of sizes, finishes and customisation options to meet your requirements.

  •  Screening Louvre (1UL) – A single banked louvre that is ideal for screening and cladding applications where rain defence isn’t a priority. This unit is available with 50 and 100 mm blade pitches and a range of finishes to achieve your preferred aesthetic.
  • Ventilation Louvre (2UL) – An aerodynamically efficient, double banked louvre which offers a strong blend of airflow performance and rain defence. This product provides a versatile solution which is suitable for both internal and external spaces.
  • Weather Louvre (3UL) – Our 3UL louvre delivers proven performance in some of the most demanding applications. Its triple-banked design provides excellent rain defence whilst still supporting effective ventilation.

Colt Acoustic Louvre Modules (CALM) – These panels feature cutting-edge noise reduction technology, helping to limit sound transmission in applications where strict noise limits apply. The panels are designed to seamlessly integrate with our Universal louvre range.

Specification, Manufacture, Installation

Specification

Specifying louvre systems requires careful judgement to balance the unique needs of each application, as it often involves making thoughtful compromises.

Manufacture

Colt International has been a trusted leader in the design, manufacture, and installation of high-performance louvre systems.

Installation

At Colt International, we provide more than just high-quality louvres. We offer a complete solution with expert installation and comprehensive project management.

Why choose Colt louvre systems?

  • Proven Expertise: Colt has been the UK's leading louvre manufacturer for decades, delivering innovative solutions since the 1970s.
  • Award-Winning Design: The Colt Universal Louvre System was first introduced in the 1970s and earned its first Design Council Award in 1975, showcasing its exceptional design and engineering.
  • Iconic Installations: In 1991, Colt supplied and installed a stainless steel louvred pyramid atop One Canada Square in Canary Wharf, the tallest building in London at the time, proving the system's reliability in landmark projects.
  • 50+ Years of Proven Performance: With over 50 years of successful installations, Colt's louvre systems have been used in diverse environments, including marine, commercial, industrial, and residential sectors.

Colt's Universal Louvre System has an extensive and adaptable design, ensuring it meets the unique needs of every built environment. From durability to aesthetics, Colt louvres offer superior protection and performance, making them the go-to choice for projects of all sizes.

Features and benefits

Colt louvre systems are designed for optimal performance, offering a wide range of benefits for various applications, from rooftop screens to plant rooms and façade ventilation. Here are some key features that set Colt louvres apart:

High Aerodynamic Efficiency

Colt louvres are engineered to reduce air resistance, ensuring efficient airflow and reducing the overall size of both the plant and the aperture. This results in significant savings on initial project costs and ongoing operational costs. Enhanced aerodynamic design means better energy efficiency and reduced environmental impact.

Durability and Minimal Maintenance

Colt's Universal Louvre System is manufactured using corrosion-resistant materials, ensuring long-lasting durability even in harsh environments. This results in minimal maintenance requirements, making Colt louvres a reliable and cost-effective solution for any project.

Thermal Movement Accommodation

The louvres are clipped to mullions rather than being screwed or riveted. This design allows the system to easily accommodate thermal movement, ensuring structural integrity and flexibility in diverse temperature conditions, reducing wear and tear over time.

Flexibility in Installation

Colt louvres offer versatile installation options. They can be supplied in either a breakdown format for on-site assembly or pre-assembled, providing flexibility and convenience to suit the specific needs of your project.

FAQs

What are louvres?

Louvres typically comprise a frame with horizontal slats (known as blades) which are oriented down. The angle of the blades is designed to allow light and air to enter a space, whilst simultaneously limiting rain, wind and direct sunlight. Louvres can also be used to limit direct views into a space. Depending on the application and local climate conditions, louvres may contain one or multiple banks of blades in order to provide added protection against rainwater ingress.

How are louvres used within a building?

Louvres are used for a variety of purposes in modern buildings. They are most commonly installed around areas such as plant rooms where constant natural ventilation is required to maintain equipment within a given operating temperature range. Specialist acoustic louvres can be used in this application to help limit noise transmission to meet regulatory requirements. Louvres can also be used as a privacy screen or as an architectural feature for both internal and external spaces.

How do I know which louvres are right for my building?
