A complete residential smoke control and environmental ventilation solution.

Our mechanical ventilation systems can help to maintain consistent air quality and thermal comfort in any building.
Colt International has been designing and manufacturing mechanical ventilation systems since the 1930s. Offering a fully turnkey approach, we design, manufacture, install and maintain mechanical ventilation systems on buildings across a wide range of sectors, including commercial, retail, residential, industrial, healthcare and education. Each system is carefully tailored to the project requirements by our in-house design team and can incorporate a range of advanced technologies, including evaporative cooling, air conditioning and extract ventilators.
Whether you’re looking to upgrade an existing system or working on a new development, we can develop a mechanical ventilation system which performs efficiently, is cost-effective to run and can help to maintain comfortable and healthy internal environments.

Mechanical ventilation systems use fans or other plant equipment to drive fresh air into a building and push stale air out. These systems can also incorporate cooling technologies, such as air conditioning or evaporative cooling. They provide a solution where natural ventilation is not possible or practicable, either due to the ventilation demand of the building, or external factors such as traffic noise or air pollution.
MVHR systems can help to reduce the heating demand for a building, extracting the heat from outgoing stale air and using it to warm incoming fresh air. With our end-to-end approach to design, manufacture and installation, Colt International can help to develop a tailored MVHR which maintains comfortable, well-controlled internal environments whilst lowering overall energy demand.

With decades of experience, you can rely on Colt International to provide expert support at every step to achieve a ventilation system which meets your needs.
Our in-house team use computer modelling to accurately track the flow of air through your building. This can allow us to achieve the optimal system arrangement on both new and existing systems, ensuring excellent levels of air quality and thermal comfort.
All components are manufactured to exacting standards. We will carefully co-ordinate with site teams to meet agreed timelines and arrange delivery.
Our experienced installers can handle the installation and commissioning of your system, ensuring all elements are performing as expected before handover.
We operate a network of service engineers across the UK and can carry out regular service and maintenance on your system to extend its lifespan and ensure it is performing correctly.
Mechanical ventilation heat recovery (MVHR) systems are a type of mechanical ventilation system that incorporates a heat exchanger. This exchanger extracts heat from outgoing stale air and uses it to warm incoming fresh air. This can help to reduce demand on heating systems, particularly during the winter months.
The Building Regulations regarding ventilation and air quality are primarily contained in Approved Document F to the Building Regulations (England and Wales) and Section 3 – Environment (Scotland). As these systems can also contribute a significant proportion of overall energy demand and operational carbon emissions, they should also be considered in relation to the energy performance requirements contained in Approved Document L (England and Wales) and Section 6 – Energy (Scotland).
As their name suggests, mechanical ventilation systems rely on powered components to provide ventilation and, in some cases, cooling for a building. Natural ventilation systems harness natural forces such as wind and the buoyancy of air to maintain comfort and manage internal air quality.
